It’s only day one at NAB Show and already Blackmagic has made a flurry of new product announcements including a new 12K URSA cinema camera, the latest version of DaVinci Resolve, ATEM switchers and much, much more!
Read on below for brief descriptions for each product.
URSA Cine 12K
The URSA Cine 12K introduces new advanced technologies with “total integration into the post production workflow”.
It features a new, large format RGBW 36 x 24mm sensor with larger photo-sites offering up to 16 stops of dynamic range, interchangeable PL, LPL and EF lens mounts, and industry standard Lemo and Fischer connections that provide record start/stop and 24V power for onboard accessories.
Along with the Lemo and Fischer connections, the URSA Cine 12K also includes 12G‑SDI out, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, XLR audio and more.
The full sensor area produces a 3:2 open gate image allowing for easier reframing of shots in post production.
Shoot anamorphic footage is possible thanks to the large sensor area that is able to deliver in a range of aspect ratios with 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.66, 1.8 and 2x de-squeeze factors.
Footage can also be captured in 4K, 8K or 12K using the entire sensor without cropping, retaining the full field of view of their lenses as well as 9K Super 35 4-perf, 3-perf and 2-perf modes for full compatibility with classic cinema lenses.
The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K features 8TB of “high performance” storage built-in and also includes high speed networking for media upload and syncing to Blackmagic Cloud.

PYXIS 6K
The new Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is a next generation digital film camera featuring a customizable box/cube design available in three version, a L-Mount, PL mount or Locking EF lens mount.
Inside the camera is a large full frame sensor (36 x 24mm) 6K sensor boasting a native resolution of 6048 x 4032 offering up to 13 stops of dynamic range, and dual native ISO up to 25,600.
Footage is recorded to dual built-in CFexpress media recorders or via the USB-C expansion port when recording directly to external flash media disks or an SSD.
The PYXIS can record in all standard resolutions and frame rates from HD up to DCI 4K and even 6K. Stills can also be captured at 24.6 megapixels.
Recording up to 36 fps at 6048 x 4032 3:2 open gate or 60 fps at 6048 x 2520 2.4:1 and 60 fps at 4096 x 2160 4K DCI is also possible. For higher frame rates up to 100 fps at 2112 x 1184 Super 16 the sensor can be windowed.
The PYXIS boasts a wide range of connections for audio, monitoring, power and more and includes a 12G-SDI out allowing for monitoring with support for HDR and Ultra HD output.
A built-in hardware streaming engine supports RTMP and SRT streaming to various social media platforms including: YouTube, Facebook, X and more via Ethernet or a connected 4G or 5G phone.
On the outside there are multiple 1/4″ and 3/8″ thread mounting point on the top and bottom of the body allowing it to be easily configured and mounted on a range of camera rigs such as cranes, gimbals or drones, and the range of accessory side plates, allow for the mounting of accessories such as handles, microphones and even SSDs!

DaVinci Resolve 19
DaVinci Resolve 19 is a major update (available as of April 15, 2024 as a free public beta version) adding new AI tools, over 100 feature upgrades including:

DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel
The DaVinci Resolve Micro Colour Panel is a new more portable colour panel for use with the DaVinci Resolve software.
It features 3 high resolution weighted trackballs and 12 precision machined control knobs providing direct access to the primary correction features such as Y Lift, Y Gamma, Y Gain, Contrast, Pivot, Mid-tone Detail, Colour Boost, Shadow, Highlight, Saturation, Hue Rotation and Luminance Mix.
There are also a range of transport and grading control buttons on the left, top and right side of the panel to access the most important and commonly used commands.
Along the top of the panel there is a mounting slot for an Apple iPad Pro, and powered is provided by the internal battery.
For greater flexibility, Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity is also included.

ATEM Constellation 4K Switchers
Two new Ultra HD models of the ATEM Constellation family are also available, the ATEM 1 M/E Constellation 4K and the larger ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K switcher.
Both new models inherit many of the same features as the previous ATEM 1 M/E and 2 M/E Constellation HD models including aux outputs, DVEs, ATEM advanced chroma keyers, multiview and SuperSource.
The smaller of the two, the ATEM 1 M/E Constellation 4K, features 10 standards converted 12G-SDI inputs, 6 x 12G-SDI outputs, DVE, 4 ATEM Advanced chroma keyers, a 16 way multiview, media players, talkback and USB webcam output.
The larger ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K includes 20 standards converted 12G-SDI inputs, 12 x 12G-SDI aux outputs, 2 DVEs, 8 ATEM Advanced chroma keyers, 2 multiviews and a SuperSource for a total of 6 DVEs.
Both are rack mountable and feature a built in control panel and large, bright LCD screen for viewing program output and to change settings.

Blackmagic Media Player 10G
The Blackmagic Media Player, is a capture and playback solution for Thunderbolt computers featuring dual 12G-SDI outputs for fill and key playback, 12G-SDI capture and 10G Ethernet allowing DaVinci Resolve 19 to be used as a media player and replay solution for the live production and broadcast markets.
The front panel features an LCD that displays video, audio meter status information including input, video standard and the depth of the record/playback frame buffer, an audio meter that can be changed between VU and PPM, a headphone socket, speaker and a speaker enable button.
The dual 12G-SDI video outputs allow it to be connected into live production switchers allowing broadcast graphics to be overlaid with transparency.
Internally, hardware support for both RGBA and YUVA frame buffers is also included making it ideal for broadcast graphics and stingers.

SmartView 4K G3
Thew SmartView 4K G3, is a Ultra HD broadcast monitor featuring both 12G-SDI and SMPTE-2110 IP video inputs allows users to connect directly to IP based broadcast systems as well as a range of 12G-SDI professional video equipment up to 2160p60.
There are two 12G-SDI inputs allowing it to be connected to a wide range of professional video equipment and both the 12G-SDI and 2110 video inputs are capable of outputting to a 12G-SDI loop output connection.
The 4K front panel includes a wide range of monitoring controls including an input button, display button, zoom button and more. There are also 4 separate frame guides, 2 vertical and 2 horizontal, which can be displayed simultaneously as well as on screen focus peaking, which can be turned on and off via the dedicated front panel button.
