It’s hard to say which is stronger, Karolina Kuras’s love of ballet or her love of photography. Luckily for her, Karolina is able to combine both these passions as the primary photographer at the National Ballet of Canada.
While still in high school, one of Karolina’s teachers that took notice of her images began to nurture the idea that she should pursue photography as a career.
However, it wasn’t just Karolina’s high school teacher that noticed her talent.
The photographers that Karolina worked with in the early days of her career also noticed and encouraged her to pursue her natural talent in photography.
Karolina grew that talent by shooting weddings, portraits and fashion at runway shows and it was these experiences that have shaped the way Karolina approaches her photography.
Now, Karolina is combining that talent with her love and knowledge of ballet in what she calls her “dream come true” job with the National Ballet of Canada.
Karolina’s latest project is a collaboration between the National Ballet and the TTC called “We Move You”.
The “We Move You” campaign featuring Karolina’s images, was created to provide “TTC riders with enhanced beauty and art during their daily commutes through a series of stunning images and video featuring National Ballet dancers at various TTC locations across the city”.
Karolina is working on a new collaboration with The National Ballet of Canada called The Company Project.
The project will include portraits, ballet photos, and interviews with the entire company of dancers and give viewers a behind-the-scenes look into who these incredible dancers are.
