April 26 is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.

2009 marks the 9th annual celebration of the pinhole camera: one of the oldest photographic tools, used to create photos without a lens. As part of CONTACT 2009, an intimate shooting workshop for both professional and amateur photographers is being held as part of the Magnum Photo Workshop Toronto. The Hahnemuhle 425th Anniversary Photo Award Contest

Not many companies can boast that sort of longevity. And, to celebrate this milestone, the German paper manufacturer is presenting The Hahnemuhle 425th Anniversary Photo Award Contest. The open international competition (themed For Originals) invites photographers to present their unique visions of people, objects and moods from the most original perspective possible. Submissions will be accepted until June 30, 2009. Hahnemuhle will be awarding non-cash prizes, in several categories, worth €36,000. Winning entries will also become part of the prestigious Hahnemuhle Anniversary Collection, a travelling exhibition scheduled for hanging in the major photo capitals around the world.
