Are your images missing the mark? Do they seem to lack that punch? Or fall short of your expectations? Join Outdoor Photography Canada magazine editor-in-chief/columnist and professional photographer Roy Ramsay as he teaches you how to see beyond the “snapshot.” This is a one-day, eight-hour workshop designed to help you become a better landscape, nature and travel photographer.
$200 $180 per person, plus HST
Location: Terra Cotta Conservation Area
Terra Cotta Conservation Area, located in beautiful Halton Hills, Ontario, northwest of the village of Terra Cotta, comprises 504 acres of valleys, cliffs and bedrock plains mixed with diverse forests, wetlands and streams.
Concepts you will learn
Our workshop begins at the Mink Pond, where you’ll learn effective use of the rule of thirds. As we move through the park we will discuss and practise other concepts such as the use of leading lines, S-curves and framing. We will discuss how these concepts, help to move our eyes through an image and why that’s important.
Attendees must already have a working knowledge of their basic camera operation. How to control aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how they work together for proper exposure is essential. This is not a camera basics workshop. Please have these concepts under your belt before signing up for this workshop because you’ll be using them as you learn the basics of composition.
Workshop price includes:
- Admission to park
- Eight hours of instruction
- Group and one-on-one tutoring on location with professional photographer Roy Ramsay
- Vital critique sessions to further your learning
- One-year subscription to Outdoor Photography Canada magazine (subscription extensions accepted)
- Official OPC ball cap
- Surprise swag!
