Blackmagic Raw update brings support for M1 Macs and more!

Blackmagic RAW update 2.1 adds support for Macs running Apple’s new M1 processors, expands the list of official BRAW capable cameras (when paired with Video Assist 12G HDR monitors), adds optimized CPU decoding for clips captured by Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K, and more!

Support for Mac computers featuring the M1 Chip means that users are able to natively import BRAW footage and take full advantage of these new, lighting fast (reportedly 80% faster for some Premier Pro tasks) Apple processors.

It also improves features for Blackmagic’s URSA Mini Pro 12K camera and adds support for BRAW recordings from a selection of non Blackmagic cameras.

The update adds optimized CPU decoding to the URSA Mini Pro 12K, which should help to boost performance when editing the massive 12K files it produces.

In addition, the codec now supports BRAW files recorded on Panasonic’s Lumix S1H, Lumix S1, and Lumix S5 cameras, as well as Nikon’s Z 6II and Z 7II cameras.

However, recording has to be captured via a Blackmagic Video Assist 12G, (the 5″ or the 7″ version) in order to take advantage of this.
