Marking several notable firsts, the launch of the new Panasonic Lumix S1R II takes the series in a stunning direction. Since the debut of the S1 and S1R in 2018, Panasonic has aimed to ensure a place for the lineup among serious professionals seeking a high-performance full-frame mirrorless hybrid camera in a crowded and highly competitive market.

The S1R II has secured that niche comfortably for the foreseeable future.
Featuring the fastest burst shooting in the Lumix S series and 8K video capability for the first in a Lumix, the versatile new 44MP S1R II is designed to meet the demands a wide range of shooting applications.
Weighing in at just 795g, the S1R II is 20% lighter than its predecessor, the original S1R. And despite its position in the lineage, this new model inherits certain attributes from the S5 II, including a similar body design and layout.

The 44.3MP CMOS sensor is said to deliver the company’s best image quality yet, with rich colour expression and 14 -stop high dynamic range. The engine is Panasonic’s latest, featuring L2 Technology that promises to maximize the sensor’s performance with high-speed processing, ultimately delivering both high-res and low-noise images.
The ISO range spans a comfortable 80 to 51200 and can be extended to encompass a more generous 40-102400.
As a true pro-level hybrid camera, the S1R II delivers genuinely stunning high-res still images. But it’s in the video department that it truly shines, offering 8K video for the first time in a Lumix model, up to 30p in 10-bit, plus 4K120 and open-gate 6.4K in 10-bit. You can capture ProRes RAW HQ internally, and with support for external RAW recording, you can also save directly to an SSD drive through a USB cable.
Today’s launch is accompanied by a new battery grip, the dust-, splash- and freeze-resistant DMW-BG2, perfect for maintaining consistent controls for both vertical and horizontal shots, while delivering simultaneous power supply from the body battery and the grip battery in certain situations when power consumption is high.
