Blackmagic Design has announced three new models of the Blackmagic Videohub 12G zero latency video routers that allow users to connect and route any combination of SD, HD and Ultra HD on the same router at the same time.
All three new models, the Videohub 12G 10×10, Videohub 12G 20×20 and Videohub 12G 40×40 feature a front panel with shortcut buttons, an LCD screen which can display labels or live video, and a machined metal spin knob for browsing video sources.
The smallest of the three, the Videohub 12G 10×10 provides 10 12G-SDI inputs and 10 12G-SDI outputs, the next size up 20×20 provides 20 12G-SDI inputs and 20 12G-SDI outputs and the largest of the three, the 40×40 provides 40 12G-SDI inputs and 40 12G-SDI outputs.
The Blackmagic Videohub 12G makes setting up incredibly easy, eliminating cable mess by allowing users to plug all their SDI equipment into the router and then connect electronically.
Any video input can be connected to any any video output, or even a single video input to multiple video outputs allowing monitors to view any source in the studio.
Multiple HyperDeck Studio recorders can also be connected, providing redundant mastering and video can be routed to multiple streaming processors. It can also be used to add extra inputs to an ATEM switcher.
The built-in front control panel allows users to route video, and features a spin knob for browsing, direct entry buttons for speed and an LCD for displaying labels.
Because the panel is built into the router, users can also view live video on the LCD or change router settings view it’s menu options without having to connect to an external SDI monitor.
All models feature advanced, multi-rate 12G-SDI connections capable of supporting any SD, HD and Ultra HD video format up to 2160p60 in addition to being able to connect to any SD, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI and 12G-SDI equipment.
They also support routing any video standard on the same router, at the same time. This means that 10×10 model is capable of routing up to 10 different video standards at the same time, the 20×20 model up to 20 and the 40×40 model up to 40.
It also provides high frame rate Ultra HD via a single BNC connection that also plugs into regular HD equipment and built-in SDI re-clocking on every 12G-SDI input that helps to regenerate the video signal (especially important when using longer cables) for maximum video quality.
Finally, all Videohub models can also be remotely controlled, a vital ability, especially in large broadcast studios, where the equipment connected to the router might be located in different areas.
