The Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K is a new high end digital film camera featuring a full-frame 6K sensor, 13 stops of dynamic range, L-Mount lens mount, dual native ISO up to 25,600 and recording to CFexpress cards.
The new L-Mount design supports the latest full frame lenses from manufacturers such as Leica, Panasonic and Sigma and Blackmagic says that because of the short flange distance of 20mm, customers will easily be able add adapters for a variety of new and vintage lens mounts without impacting image quality.
The camera’s 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO up to 25,600 means the camera can capture low noise images in almost any lighting conditions.
Blackmagic says that the camera can shoot in all standard resolutions and frame rates from HD up to DCI 4K and even 6K. 24.6 megapixels still photos can also be captured.
Blackmagic says that true anamorphic 6:5 (without cropping) video capture is also possible when using anamorphic lenses in 4.8K 24 fps at 4838 x 4032.
It also features a built in CFexpress card recorder and a USB-C expansion port allowing for recording direct to external flash media disks or an SSD.
Other features include a bright 5 inch tilting (up to 180 degrees flat and down to 47 degrees) HDR touchscreen and on screen overlays that show status and record parameters, histogram, focus peaking indicators, levels, frame guides and more.
