Introducing the new DJI OM 7 and OM 7P, the latest generation in a long line of groundbreaking smartphone gimbals that use three-axis stabilization to compensate for camera shake and deliver super-smooth handheld video.

It’s been quite a while since the DJI OM series made its debut in 2016 with the launch of the original Osmo Mobile. It was back in 2020, when the OM 4 succeeded the Osmo Mobile 3, that DJI initiated the abbreviated nomenclature, which has clearly stuck ever since.
And a few years have passed since the last set of upgrades – including a built-in status panel, a side wheel for zoom and focus control, plus the ActiveTrack 5.0 subject-tracking feature – made their appearance in the OM 6 in 2022.
So how does the seventh generation stack up and what does it have to offer Osmo Mobile fans in 2025?
This upgrade is incremental but enough of a boost to nudge the series along in a helpful direction. The OM 7 is the standard model. The OM 7P is the professional version. Both new models support the newly developed DJI OM Multifunctional Module (included with the 7P but optional with the 7) and both now feature a built-in tripod.
The DJI OM Multifunctional Module is paired with the gimbal to unlock tracking, audio reception and lighting capabilities. It also supports remote gesture control, a boon for solo creators.
The built-in tripod is suitable only for use on stable, level surfaces in windless environments. Perhaps more helpful for those working alone, the DJI OM Grip Tripod (sold separately) unfolds like a claw to balance more steadily on a flat surface and let the gimbal stand up by itself unaided.

The 7P boasts a built-in telescopic extension rod, which is also found on the OM 6 but unfortunately not on the OM 7. Operating time has been extended to 10 hours for both, four hours longer than with the OM 6, and both models now support phone charging via USB-C.
