With it’s long and storied history, Leica is the camera brand that street photographers around the world have coveted the most due to their minimalist beauty and high-quality builds. And we are happy to say that the new Leica M10-P proudly continues that tradition.
Leica M10-P
As with most Leica cameras, the thing that makes M10-P appealing to street (and other) photographers is its discreet size and minimal design.
Adding to the minimalist design is the fact that Leica made the decision to remove their classic red-dot logo from the camera, a move that might cause some division with hardcore Leica loyalists.
The key feature, and what really makes the M10-P interesting, is the new mechanical shutter design which Leica says makes it “virtually silent to the ear” and “the quietest of all the digital and analog M series cameras ever made”.
Performance Specs
In terms of performance specs, the P model features the same 24-megapixel, full-frame CMOS sensor, Leica Maestro II processor and ISO range (100-50,000) as the original M10.
Other than the new shutter design, the P model also debuts a new 3” TFT monitor (1.04 million
pixels) with Corning Gorilla Glass touch-screen that allows for faster checking of focus in live-view and playback modes as well as swiping and pinch-to-zoom functions.
Another new feature is the integrated spirit level designed to help you keep your compositions even with the horizon.
Not made for video…
As with the original M10, the P model is designed strictly for photographers and continues the trend of not offering any video options.
