The L1600D combines a compact, lightweight design and the patent-pending water-cooling system HydroCTech™, eliminating the need for a ballast while offering unparalleled power-to-size ratio.
Profoto CEO Anders Hedebark elaborates, “our patent-pending water-cooling system, HydroCTech™ is the heart of this compact Mono-LED. There is no floor unit; no more hauling heavy equipment around. It saves a lot of time on set and is more ergonomic to use.”
The light also boasts dual mounting options allowing both Profoto light shaping tools and Bowens modifiers to be used, offering “unmatched versatility and limitless creative possibilities.”
A patent-pending swivel functionality adds even more freedom of movement when setting the light.
In terms of power, Profoto says the 1600-watt L1600D harnesses 97% of it’s electrical input which is then in turn, used to create light output.
According to Profoto, this makes the light at least 20% more efficient than other comparable lighting solutions that utilize the more traditional ballast and head set-up.
In terms of light quality, it produces flicker free (at any frame rate) light with a colour temperature of 5,700K and a 97 TLCI/CRI.
Output is 3,850 lux at 5 metres using the built-in wide (60-degree beam) reflector and maxes out at 49,000 lux at 5 metres when using the included boost reflector (12-degree beam).
Finally, the light’s IP54 classification and multiple connectivity options, including DMX, help to make the L1600D a highly versatile option suitable for use on almost any film production set.
