Departing from the traditional black colour scheme of previous models, the RS 4 Mini boasts a fresh light grey finish. In terms of size and weight, it comes in at just 890g (2lbs) and measures 33.7 x 18.2 x 17.5 cm (13.3 x 7.2 x 6.9 inches).
One of the most notable improvements is the upgraded, second-generation automated axis locks, which unlocks all three axes in just one second.
The addition of Teflon-coated arms and a precision fine-tuning knob allows for millimetre-level balancing adjustments.
For vertical filming enthusiasts, the third-generation native vertical switch offers what DJI says is the quickest transition experience in the RS series to date.
Additionally, the briefcase handle is now approximately 20% smaller and 28 grammes lighter.
The RS 4 Mini also introduces fourth-generation stabilisation technology and a new Responsive mode complements the traditional Smooth mode, allowing the RS 4 Mini to react more precisely to rapid hand movements.
The internal battery system has received significant improvements, with operating time extended to 13 hours – a 30% increase from its predecessor.
Charging efficiency has also improved, requiring only 1 hour and 50 minutes for a full charge when using a 30W charger.
And the quick-charging capability stands out in particular – requiring a mere 30-minute charge to provide up to five hours of operation.
The system also supports 9V/2.5A charging through its USB-C port.
Despite its weight of 890g, the RS 4 Mini strikes an impressive balance between portability and capability, and can support a maximum payload of up to 2kg (4.5lbs), making it suitable for mirrorless camera setups, Vlogging configurations or for use as a Smartphone rig when paired with the (sold separately) smartphone holder.
Offering extensive movement freedom, the pan axis provides 360° of continuous rotation and the tilt axis spans from -112° to +214°.
The RS 4 Mini supports a broad range of cameras and lenses within its payload capacity and connects to compatible cameras via Bluetooth or camera control cables.

The RS Intelligent Tracking Module introduces powerful subject tracking through ActiveTrack technology which will keep subjects in frame at distances up to 10 metres, even in complex environments.
Tracking can be activated through two methods – pressing the trigger or using an open-palm gesture command.
There are also two distinct operational modes, the Responsive mode and the classic Smooth mode.
Responsive mode helps to deliver faster reactions to hand movements, making it ideal for capturing fast-moving subjects and circular tracking shots.
Alternatively, Smooth mode provides fluid gimbal responses, perfectly suited for steady following shots and general filming.
Finally, the DJI Mimo app also expands the stabilizer’s capabilities by providing various customization options including, Panorama and timelapse shooting modes, Virtual joystick control via Bluetooth, Custom FPV mode settings and Power zoom control for compatible lenses.
Key stabilisation features include:
- Quick-release magnetic mount for accessories
- Automated mode switching capabilities
- Enhanced vertical shooting performance
- Precise balancing system with Teflon interlayers
- Battery life upgrades
