It’s been a while since we’ve had anything new from Elinchrom, but that’s about to change with the announcement of the compact, lightweight and very portable Elinchrom One off-camera and a variety of modifiers.
Utilizing a sealed Li-ion battery, Elinchrom says The ONE is capable of producing 725 full-power flashes on a single charge and can also be recharged from any USB-C power source.
This is handy because it eliminates the need to carry around extra batteries and chargers that take up space in your kit bag.
The ONE also features Active Charging, meaning it can be connected to a power source and continue shooting while charging regardless of the battery’s power level.
Designed around an unconcealed flash tube to provide optimal light spread, The ONE utilizes its 131 Ws of capacity to generate a light output usually seen in 200+ Ws units.
The ONE boasts a fast recycle time of just 0.9 seconds at full power while maintaining a +/- 150K colour temperature across the entire power range.
Colour temperature at max power depends on the mode, 5900K for Action (faster flash duration over the power range) mode and 5600 when shooting with HSS enabled.
The HSS mode offers sync up to 1/8000 of a second allowing you to “freeze” motion, overpower ambient light and darken backgrounds.
When shooting in manual or TTL mode, power can be adjusted in 0.1 f-stop and 0.3 f-stop increments respectively.
On the back of the light, you will find relatively large touchscreen interface with a newly designed menu structure and other control dials.
Interestingly, Elinchrom has developed a OCF modifier mount for use with The ONE light designed to support OCF mount modifiers up to 1kg (2.2lbs) in weight.
With the OCF mount attached, The ONE becomes natively compatible with most Profoto OCF light shapers greatly expanding the range of options beyond what Elinchrom traditionally offers.
The Elinchrom ONE will be available in both single light and dual light kits that include:
