The Rotolight NEO 3 and AEOS 2 are both big upgrades over their previous versions. Both are brighter, boast new RGBWW LED lights and offer other new features such as a touch-screen display.
Note: Vistek is the exclusive Canadian retailer to offer these lights in their Canadian versions bundled with a few extra items.
NEO 3 Starter Kit
It features full RGBWW capabilities with an adjustable colour range of 3000-10,000K and an output of up to 5443 lux at 3 ft when used in continuous light mode and up to 10,700 lux at 3 ft when used in flash mode.
Thanks to it’s full RGBWW compatibility, it can be set to flash in any one of the 16.7 million available colours.
The NEO 3 also offers 2,500 digital filters and 14 different special effects options for you to play with.
The NEO 3 is powered by a “Sony style” NPF 750 battery or via a continuous source and draws 50W of power.
In terms of connectivity, the NEO 3 features a flash sync port as well as a slow charge USB port that is also used to update the firmware.
Finally, it also supports Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth to connect the NEO 3 to the new iOS/Android app.
The app allows you to easily switch between lighting modes, adjust colour, power and flash settings as well as to create custom groups and projects on up to 20 lights simultaneously from your phone.

AEOS 2 Explorer Kit
Like the NEO 3, the AEOS 2 is a RGBWW LED light that can be used as a continuous light or, because it is much larger, an off-camera, high-speed (1/8000th max shutter speed sync), zero refresh time flash.
The AEOS 2 features full RGBWW capabilities with an adjustable colour range of 3,000-10,000K and an output of up to 11,500 lux at 3 ft when used in continuous light mode and up to 17,500 lux at 3 ft when used in flash mode.
When used as a flash, the AEOS 2 is triggered using a (Rotolight optimized) Elinchrom El-Skyport HSS transmitter connected to a mirrorless or DSLR camera.
Thanks to it’s full RGBWW compatibility, it can be set to flash in any one of the 16.7 million available colours
As with the NEO 3, there are also 2,500 digital filters and 14 different special effects options for you to play with.
The new touchscreen display located on the back of the light is bright and easy to navigate and is very similar to the system found on Rotolight’s much larger Titan X1 and Titan X2 lights.
Power draw is 120W and is provided by 14.4V, V-Lock style battery (min 100W) or via a continuous power source.
There are several connectivity options available including a flash sync port, a USB port (used to update the firmware) as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is used to connect the AEOS 2 to the new iOS/Android app allowing you to switch between lighting modes, adjust colour, power and flash settings as well as to create custom groups and projects on up to 20 lights simultaneously from your phone.
