Heading south this winter or planning a ski vacation or hike into the mountains? If so, you probably intend on taking long exposures. Here’s something you may want to pack along with your digital camera.

Tiffen has developed a line of three different XLE (extra long exposure) filters to clarify, simplify and correct the Infrared (IR) pollution issue that long exposure photography is susceptible to. Essentially, the XLE filters lower shutter speeds to produce a smooth softening effect on objects and matter in motion, such as water, tall grass, cars and clouds. At the same time, the filters eliminate the magenta contamination produced by the IR energy causing a colour imbalance.

Think of the three filters as a good, better, best solution.
