If you’re looking for a compact take anywhere pocket camera, you might want to consider Fujifilm’s successor to the X-A3, the new and improved X-mount X-A5.
The X-A5 comes packaged with a brand new XC15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ zoom lens, the first electric-powered lens kit for X-mount digital cameras.
Don’t let its pocket size fool you though, the user-friendly X-A5 is packet with features, including the latest Bluetooth technology for speedy transferring of images and camera control as well as expanded video capabilities including 4K output.
The 24.2 mega-pixel APS-C (non-X-Trans) sensor also boasts phase detection AF, Fujifilm’s outstanding colour reproduction technology and a new image engine that processes photos one-and-a-half times faster than on previous X-A models.
The X-A5 also features an upgraded intelligent Hybrid AF system that will lock in on subjects two times faster than previous models as well as improved ISO sensitivity range now topping out at ISO12800 with extended sensitivity range of up to ISO51200.
If you want to get creative on the fly, there are a total of seventeen in-camera creative filters and eleven film simulation modes (for both photo & video) that will help you create your masterpieces without having to deal with post-processing.
There is also a Multi Focus Mode (focus stacking) that stacks a series of 4K quality images while automatically adjusting depth of field and then combines them into a single image. The beauty of this system is that it allows you to use the touchscreen to choose the points of the image that you would like in focus prior to combining them.
On the back, there is a 3-inch 1.04-million-dot LCD touchscreen that can be rotated up to 180 degrees allowing you to point the camera at yourself and still see what you are shooting.
The X-A5 features 4K 3840 x 2160 15P video recording but is limited by a 5 minute continuous recording time.
If you want to record something longer, you have two options: Full HD (1920 x 1080 59.94p / 50p / 24p / 23.98p), with continuous recording up to approx. 14 min or HD (1280 x 720 59.94p / 50p / 24p / 23.98p) with continuous recording of up to approx. 27 min. There is also a High Speed Movie (1280×720 1.6x / 2x / 3.3x / 4x) mode.
The X-A5 bundled with the XC15-45mm zoom lens should hit stores around the middle of February, with a standalone XC15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ zoom lens purchase option following around the middle of March.
