Perfect for House of Worship, Live Event or Broadcast applications, the award winning KMU-100 from Datavideo offers operators a unique 4K multi-camera production solution capable of delivering multiple virtual full HD (up to 1080p) scaled camera angles to a single monitor.
The main advantage to using the KMU-100 for your live recording/broadcasting needs, is that it gives you the ability to mimic a larger multicam set-up using only one or two cameras, thus reducing overall manpower and operating costs.
According to Datavideo, the basic concept is pretty straightforward:
The KMU-100 can take the output from a single 4K/UHD camera convert it, and display it as up to four 16×9 user-defined cropped windows which can then be broadcast as four separate HD signals through HD-SDI.
You can then individually define these windows and scale them to zoom in on the particular subject(s) that they need to highlight on outgoing 4K signal.
Using a live concert as an example, you could set-up the following types of shots:
Add a RMC-185 KMU controller (sold separately), to gain the ability to pan, tilt and zoom each of these windows either in real time, or using presets that you defined prior to broadcast.
Add a second 4K/UHD camera into the mix and you will have the equivalent of an 8 window virtual HD shoot further expanding your broadcast capabilities while keeping your overall costs relatively low.
Software Compatibility
One thing to keep in mind when considering the KMU-100 is that it’s dedicated utility control software is not compatible with systems running Mac OS, so you’ll need a system running Windows 7, 8 or 10.
