Just when you thought that UAVs rule the sky, along comes Wirecam — a cool new device from Varavon to steal their thunder. The full kit includes an aerial camera dolly or slider system that allows you to run your camera along a suspended cable up to 300 feet. The kit also includes Birdycam 2, a 3-axis gimbal stabilizing rig that attaches to Wirecam, that supports your camera (up to 5.5 lbs), making it ideal for use with mirrorless cameras like the Panasonic G4 or Sony A7s.

A wireless remote controller allows you to control the speed and direction that the Wirecam travels. A separate remote controls the camera, it’s pan and tilt.
And getting back to UAVs … Wirecam offers several benefits over their aerial competitors. Most prominently, Wirecam provides improved saftey, as well as accuracy and repeatability, as the system tracks an exact path as set by the suspended cable.

Wirecam and Birdycam 2 — a dynamic duo if ever there was one. It makes a production system that’s hard to beat for overall flexibility and affordability.
